PSAT Sign-Ups

The PSAT exam will be given at MCHS on Wednesday, October 16 from 8:15 – 11:30 a.m.  This test is available to home school students and current MCHS students at MCHS.  

The PSAT is only given one time a year.  Students take the PSAT as 10^th graders as a practice test.  As 11^th graders, students take it to practice for the SAT, enter the competition for scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, and/or for merit based scholarships offered by their parent’s employer (if applicable).

DEADLINE to sign up: Tuesday, September 17

WHERE to sign up: Room 1215 (located by door 5)

COST (due at sign up): $18.00

PAYMENT OPTIONS: Cash, credit card, or check

• Go to www.nationalmerit.org for information pertaining to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

National Merit Scholarship Corporation: This scholarship competition awards approximately 8,200 scholarships annually. The selection process starts with the choosing of National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalists and Commended Scholars. Cutoffs vary from state to state but typically Semi-Finalists score in the top one percent of students in their state and Commended Scholars between the top one to four percent. Most of the approximately 16,000 Semi-Finalists become Finalists, and half of those ultimately receive National Merit Scholarships.
