Scholarship Information

Scholarships FAQ
Where can I find scholarships? This is a question I am frequently asked by parents and students.  I have found basically there are 3 sources of information students can access when on this search.
#1) Your College – Each college will have its own scholarship application and deadline.  For example, UK’s application process and eligibility is different from WKU. Some of the scholarship applications will be embedded in the admissions application, and sometimes they are separate from the admission application.  Some will require essays or letters of recommendation.  It is your responsibility to check with the college of your choice and be aware of these requirements and deadlines.  As always, I will be happy to help you research the college of your choice.  Just come to room 201, and use the student computers for your research.  Each college will have a link to their scholarship – having trouble finding it?  Maybe look under their financial aid tab if they don’t have a scholarship tab.
#2 Your Counselor - ME! – any scholarship that notifies me will be posted to the blog.  Did you know you can subscribe to the blog?  On the right-hand side of the blog, you can enter your email address.  Once you have verified your email, you will be notified when the blog is updated.  Again, if you need help with any of the scholarships posted, just stop by, and we will get you logged into the computer and on your way.
#3 Yourself – You can do scholarship searches on your own.  The most common way would be to visit college scholarship search websites.  I have listed some popular ones below.  Check the college of your choice to see if they list additional scholarship resources listed on their scholarship page.  Lastly, ask your parents if their work or any groups they belong to provide scholarships.
Web Resources
*    Cappex.com - College search made simple. Your first stop to kick-start your college and scholarship search
*    nacacnet.org - National Association for College Admission Counseling. Offers national college fair information and articles about the college process
*    Fastweb.com – scholarship search engine
*    Chegg.com – scholarship search engine
*    Studentaid.ed.gov - The federal government’s website about paying for college
*    Scholarships.com – scholarship search engine
*    www.kheaa.com – check your KEES account and learn about scholarship programs provided by KHEAA
