Message from Jennifer Burnham - Junior Counselor

Hello Class of 2023!

If you were not able to attend Registration night, no worries you will be discussing the registration process in Huddle over the next couple of weeks.  Next Wednesday, March 10th, your huddle teacher will begin individual conferences with each of you to select your courses for next year.

Here is a link for the course guide and the rising junior mock form.

The course guide will be a helpful tool to complete this process.  It contains graduation requirements, pathways, and course descriptions.  The mock registration form will allow you to discuss course options with your families and come prepared for your Huddle registration session with your top 8 choices as well as your alternates.

We will register during Huddle from March 10 - March 17   It will be VERY important that you have reviewed the information in the course guide and on the mock form so that you will be ready when it’s your turn to register.

Rising juniors will need to reference the graduation requirements to ensure they have met and have a plan to meet remaining graduation requirements.  The requirements can be found in the course guide.  Your transcript is available through your IC student portal under documents. Rising juniors will complete a transcript review with their advisors, choose electives, and choose alternates.

Rising juniors have the opportunity to take AP and dual credit courses.  Dual credit courses are offered through several partners. Some of these courses are taught on campus with our faculty, online through MSU or WKCTC, or collaboratively through the UK Next Generation Scholars program, with a UK teacher and a MCHS teacher. Information about dual credit opportunities can be found in the Special Programs section of the Course Guide.  A Quick Reference Guide can be found on page 11 in the guide.

Let me know what questions you have!  You can email me (jennifer.burnham@marshall.kyschools.us) or complete this form to schedule a meeting with me so we can discuss any questions you may have.
