Dear MCHS Parents:
As students move from one grade level to the next, it is often
hard to know exactly what they need to meet their academic goals. Because
of this, we will be offering a Parent Night on Tuesday, February 12.
The focus of this night is to inform parents of opportunities
available to MCHS students and to answer any questions that parents might have.
School counselors, principals, and teachers will be available to answer
questions on such issues as ACT testing and prep, Dual Credit, AP offerings,
Industry Certificates/Technical Education, Summer Enrichment Programs,
Freshman 101, Paying for College 101, Career Academy, Quest Academy, and other
topics. We will also be available to answer any questions concerning
registration for the 2019-2020 school year.
You may choose from the 2 time frames below. Each will begin
with a general session in the Auditorium of the Performing Arts Center and will then move
to breakout sessions of your choice within the main building.

The SBDM Council has revamped the AP Policy at MCHS. We want
to call to attention to the part that states parents/teacher/students will meet
to discuss the class before the student registers for the class. After
some discussion it was decided that this is something that is beneficial to
parents. AP teachers will be on hand at our Parent Night to complete this requirement.
The other part of the AP Policy discusses transferring out of the
classes. We have had multiple students ask to transfer out of AP courses this
year, and this causes stresses to the master schedule. The master
schedule is built off of students’ requests, and significant amount of schedule
request changes cannot be supported.
The goal of the AP Policy is to strengthen the AP Program by
informing parents and students of the AP course’s goals before the student
registers for the course. Be sure to stop by one of the breakout sessions to learn more!
Please let me know if you have any questions!
